The Rhyme Perspective: P.H.I.L.T.H.Y.

First and foremost, introduce the masses to P.H.I.L.T.H.Y.?

What up world my name is P.H.I.L.T.H.Y. I'm an independent artist from Michigan. I'm apart of a collective called the Blat! Pack, and I'm just trying to follow my dreams and inspire others to do the same.

How long have you been rhyming?

I've been rhyming since I was like 9, I remember doing a drug free rap contest back when I lived in Arizona, but I've probably only been good for the last 7-8 years.

What have you released in the past?

I used to be in a group called YNIC (Youngest Nigga's In Charge). During this time we released 2 mix tapes and an album called Gift 2 The Game. As a solo artist I've dropped 1 mix tape called Young Black Hope Vol 1: Dangerous Minds, and an album titled Save us All, an EP called Lovesongs For Losers & Ballads For Ballers, and a joint EP with fellow Blat! Pack emcee The Amature that was inspired by the Blue Scholars called Whatupdoe From BLAT!.

What is your favorite project and why?

I mean usually a persons favorite project in my opinion is always the one their currently working on but since those aren't complete projects I would have to say LoveSongs For Losers Ballads For Ballers. It for one was my most successful project but it also was a lot of fun to create and it was just a really cohesive project that I felt encompassed everything I wanted the project to deliver.

Your bio states that you are a social activist and you use your music as a vehicle to advocate things that you are passionate about. What issues are you presently passionate about?

I'm passionate about a lot of things but I believe everything intersects I really just want to fight all injustices whether their based on race, gender, class, faith, sexual orientation and any differences we used to classify and oppress others. I remember my homey Robo Robb said it best he said he's not an activist, he's just a responsible human being. That's my aim to be an ally and fight for any one who's been done wrong based off of someones bigotry and prejudice.

What do you wish to accomplish for the reminder of 2011?

I always aim high so for the remainder of the year I want to shop my next couple of projects to some labels lord willing a Major or high profile indie. I want to get a U.S. and International tour in the plans, and I want to really start getting into songwriting and sell some songs.

What are five things that the audience does not know about you?

5 things people don't know about me hmm...

1. I'm an army brat I was born in Landstuhl Germany and lived there for the first 4 years of my life.

2. I didn't really learn how to swim until I was like 13 because I didn't want to be the only freshman in high school who had to stay in the shallow end.

3. I play the guitar and my favorite bands in middle school were Led Zepplin and The Smiths.

4. I can eat PBJ sandwiches everyday and never get tired of it.

5. My first love was visual arts and I had planned to go to school for it. But I hate to part with my pieces so I knew that would be counterproductive to making money from that industry.

What is your favorite movie?

This is the easiest question ever!!! Five Heartbeats is my favorite movie, I know that whole film by heart I could watch any day everyday.

What are you currently working on music wise?

Right now I'm working on a project with a Detroit producer named KuroiOto. That project should be done before the end of the year and hopefully will come out soon there after. I'm also working on an e.p. with a Los Angeles producer named Trebles and Blues, and that should be done probably a little after the one with KuroiOto is done. So I'm working on 2 solo projects that are slated to makes some things pop in 2012, and I'm working on some other stuff as well that should be coming out hopefully in 2012.

Any Final Thoughts?

Thank you to everyone who has supported me in the past and right now I truly do appreciate it , and I promise will work hard to make sure that support was not done in vain. Thank you Praverb for this interview and deeming me a talent worthy to be spread around to more people, and everyone make sure follow your dreams and live your life to the fullest because no one can do it for you.

You can get all my music at My Bandcamp and I have show info and stuff at My Blogspot as well and here are some video links as well.
