Cymarshall Law - Harder Than Thou

Sunday, November 29, 2009 0

The track that I will bless the masses with today is called Harder than Thou and it features the insanely talented Cymarshall Law. Cymarshall Law recently signed with HiPNOTT Records and he accompanies the immensely talented K. Sparks. The track, Harder Than Thou, is the first single from Cymarshall's upcoming Creator's Kid EP which is expected to drop on Janaury 19th, 2010. D.Slaps will handle 85 percent of the production on the album while up and comer Remot will handle the remaining track. Creator's Kid will also include guest features from Dj JS-1, Silent Knight, Skit Skam, and Mary Lou. The recent additions of Cymarshall Law and K. Sparks proves that HiPNOTT will be a formidable presence for years to come.

Impulss - Do It

Saturday, November 28, 2009 0

So today while I was busy doing some Psychology homework I came across a dope video by a New Orleans emcee by the name of Impulss. The song Do It features a verse from Prince Po (yes the legendary man) and the video captures the essence of goldern era hip-hop. Impulss actually amazed me with his rhythmic flow and delivery. Impulss proves that New Orleans is more than The Hot Boyz and Jay Electronica. Impulss also has a mixtape out that has some surprising guest appearances.

Mally - 3 Part Eulogy

The homie Mally Watkins from the Gopher state sent me this awesome audio which has the MN resident destroying a knocking beat from Rem. The thing that I like the most about this track is the intensity that Mr. Watkins utilizes to deliver a point. Mr. Watkins also takes some shots at certain emcees who wear tight pants and one emcee in particular who kissed another man in the mouth (Dr. Carter haha).

Beyond Belief - U Don't Know Me

This is one of my favorite songs off of Beyond Belief's What About BOB mixtape. The track exudes a level of realism as the talented emcee bares his soul communicating several issues including the death of his father, dealing with a homosexual mother, and the struggles of finding the right woman. What About BOB is a mixtape that is produced by Kwame and features the versatility of Beyond Belief. If you are interested in the mixtape please support by buying the album on ITunes.

Alexipharmic - American

Friday, November 27, 2009 0

Here is the latest video from dope Northwestern artist Alexipharmic. Alexipharmic, in medical terms, can be loosely defined as a remedy or an antidote against disease or infection. Alexipharmic may not provide a remedy against disease but his music is a remedy (or breath of fresh air) against the infected genre of hip-hop. Pick up a copy of American Beauty and I promise you will not be disappointed (the album features P.O.S, Braille, Grynch, and more plus it supports a great humanitarian cause).

FREE DOWNLOAD: Mykestro - Adversity and Ambiance

Wednesday, November 25, 2009 0

West Coast hip-hop provided a foundation that inspires me daily. When I lived in San Diego I was introduced to The Luniz, Mac Dre, Tupac, WC, Mack 10, Ice Cube, MC Eiht, Snoop, and more. I never really dabbled with the underground market because at that time I was not into indie music. Over the years I have gravitated towards the underground market and the artists that inhabit California, most notably Mykestro. I am a big Crooked I, Sly Boogy, Bishop Lamont, Pac Div, etc fan but Mykestro appeals to me the most due to his seasoned flow and his proficiency with the English language. I have Mykestro's previous releases and I thought It would be wise to share this release with you all (spread the link!).

Check out the Pat D & Lady Paradox interview over at The Find. The interview was conducted by Praverb (me hehe) and hopefully the interview will gravitate you towards purchasing Soulscapes and Jazz Breaks on December 8th via A Bridge Too Far Recordings. I also included the interview that Crate Magazine conducted on this dynamic duo.

I know that I am late on posting this but Sideshow Bob got funked on!!! I think the dunk in itself was pretty spectacular especially since the ferocity of the dunk made Varejao hit the padded base of the rim. WOW!

M-Dot - Backstabbers/No Turning Back

Sunday, November 15, 2009 0

Boston up and comer M-Dot, who is known for his work ethic, continues his ascension within the Bostonian Hip-Hop scene with this video. The video and the track serves as a single for Michael's highly anticipated M.usically D.riven O.ver T.ime album which will drop in 2010. I am a big follower of M-Dot's music and I hope you enjoy the visuals.

Pat D & Lady Paradox - Soulscapes & Jazz Breaks Full Preview

Sunday, November 8, 2009 0

Soulscapes & Jazz Breaks is a collaborate album pitting the lovely rap stylistics of Lady Paradox with the jazzy backdrops of Pat D. This album is the follow up to the 2007 release Kind of Peace. The album, set to drop early December, will feature Benjamin Zephaniah, Melodiq, Selone, Efeks, Eva Lazarus, and myself. The album will also boast instrumentation elements from several guest musicians which will include the trumpet, sax, guitar, keys, viola, and the flute. The album will be available on A Bridge Too Far Recordings. Pat D is one of the beatmakers that I hope to work with in the future and Lady Paradox conforms the fact that female emcees have substance. An interview with the productive duo will be in the horizon (shout out to The Find Magazine).

BPA & RTD Present: J. Slikk The Drum Major III

The homie Khal at Rock the Dub presented this project and I thought I would post it as well. The mixtape features the awesome beatmaking of Chi-town representative J. Slikk. The mixtape also features appearances from Rashid Hadee, Junclassic, The Primeridian, Cy Yung, Indy Sparks, R.O.E., Rukus, Soulbrotha and others, as well as some remixes of tracks by Erykah Badu, Common, Katy Perry and Kanye West.

Creed - My Sacrifice

Saturday, November 7, 2009 1

Patrick has an eclectic taste in music with that being said I thought that this song encompasses my struggle with the man upstairs. Listen to this beautiful song and hopefully you can identify with Scott Stapp (Creed just reunited and released an album called Full Circle).
