Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive (Live)

This song is definitely an uplifting song for those who have endured the heartbeat of the breakup.
I Will Survive Lyrics
by Gloria Gaynor
First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me
Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive
It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Ghostface Killah - All That I Got Is You

One of my favorites tracks from Ghostface Killah is called All That I Got Is You. I can identify with this song because it pays homage to living under the poverty line; the song also highlights the role and importance of having a supportive mother in our lives.

One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite groups. The original version features Erykah Badu while this version features a woman who I am not aware of. I really hope that Black Thought comes out with a solo album.

Put the beat on mute and just listen...

To the words of Detroit based lyricist Elzhi as he captivates the audience with a spellbinding acapella. Elzhi is one of my favorite emcees and his trademark is his ability to twist and contort the structure of a sentence (meaning the man has one of the illest rhyme schemes known to man!!!). Take a listen to this Detroit legend in action and let me know if you can decipher the scheme.

I love scanning YouTube for motivational content that is applicable to our lives. Today I came across an interview featuring Mr. Body Language Allan Pease. In this interview Allan reveals three secrets that have been integral to his success. I love the idea of identifying a goal and bypassing how to accomplish that specific goal. The Laws of Attraction and the creativity side of our brain (right side) will inspire the how. Sit back and listen to the inspirational words from Allan Pease.

Another dope performance from the homie Promise. This time the homie Promise performs at Jame Cardinal McGuigan school. Check out the performance and give this lyricist a listen.
Promise - Outside
Here is another dope song from the homie Promise called Outside. I like the song because I believe that it encompasses the violence that is present in some cities in America (most notably Chicago, Baltimore, and others).

One of my favorite rappers is a rapper by the name of Promise who hails from Canada. View this amazing lyricist on stage and also pick up his album More than Music. I love how he is able to speak on a variety of issues while remaining true to himself.
