Shad - Rock To It

Sunday, April 26, 2009 2

Shad K. is one of the illest emcees I have ever heard and I love the fact that he is genuine is his approach. This track is off his debut album called When This Is Over. I advise you to take a minute to absorb Shad K's lyrical ability. Shad is currently touring the US via the Vans Warped Tour.

Rock To It
lyrics by Shad K.

(ra)-rock to it, freak freak to it, (a) to the beat to it, its unique music
(ra)-rock to it, freak freak to it, (a) to the beat to it this is how we- do it

Jacking cars n' glocks in perfects clever, scams
you can't find a better man in an Eddie Vedder Jam
MC's can't see the flow, unbelievable
we set records even when the needle's broke
don't need the dough, asking more bang for the buck
the only lands a Canuck, that cant handle a puck
played penalty killers skillfully, passing poke check
when black flows jet there's more cash then OPEC
or Exxon ex-cons, exploit, the oil feels of the inner city
someday I hope the soils heal
I toil build in a dream where my future can stay safe
place where i never have to move in or vacate
Physically I'm not in great shape cause I placate
and don't consume greens besides whatever-grass my snake ate
but fates, keep fronting' but I just don't care
wearing forces is the only time I put on airs
I spit a hard hitting verse, when I'm spitting' it hurts
I never shift in a verse, let alone put the whip in reverse
my free styling is like a gift and a curse
so sick with the verse, they gotta think I'd written it first
and plus my, skills just sounds, thrills the crowds
I could fill my mouth with Prozac pills and I'll still get down

rock to it, a freak freak to it, to the beat to it, its unique music
rock rock to it, a freak freak to it, to the beat to it this is how we do it

now whether on stage or in the studio space
we schooling cats to the game it's just the usual case
I'm like you wanna learn to flow homie move to the bass
and if you wanna make dough homie move to the States
I exceed suckers in style and musical taste
plus when we step on the stage and flash their beautiful face
the honies hearts beat above a suitable pace
showing the super stylistics very few could replace
I'm that ill rap scholar never sweat the finances
just taking out a bank loan as big as my campus
these emcees need to stop taking their chances
why scrap when you know my arms stronger than Lance's
touring France with these mad rappers locked in their stances
they thought they had a move until I blocked their advances
I'll be low key chilling rhymes, filling the whole sheet
feeling down loading on sizzlon soul seek
students slash rapper so I'm dealing with no sleep
I'm still a cold thief when I'm stealing the show peeps
get at this young brother with doubts
my tongue smothers the whack
the dub never uncovered the traps
so I'm trying to give light through these mic devices
not that I'm perfect only Christ was vice less
but there's too many dealing with the lightning crisis
all I want's a warm home and a wife that's righteous
we gonna get there y'all we gonna rock to it
we gonna rock to it, yeah we rock to it

we gonna rock to it, a freak freak to it, to the beat to it, its unique music
rock rock to it, freak freak to it, to the beat to it this is how we do it

and like the Bismarck I write rap tunes in the bathroom
my influence is a black moon and paiboon
I roll with a whole platoon of phat goons
who keep the hair on their backs groomed with Vidal Sassoon
pick up the phone just to get the tone
my bicep claim I gotta leg ups, so when I walk the talk I high-step
as a fetus I kick rhymes upon their skin
even back in 82 my ultra-sound was the jam
I just rock to it never get forced into nothing
but words like a mullet-cutting short on the front end
y'all life's more than cake, no offense to the ballers
but we all pay too much attention to dollars
brainwashed yo, I'm still learning how to be me
worth millions, I'd rather be free, uniquely
no, I may never know myself completely
If I make it home well maybe then I'll meet me
just a capital beat boy like Beat Street and DC
rock to it while I take it easy come on

we gonna rock to it, a freak freak to it, to the beat to it, its unique music
a rock rock to it, a freak freak to it, to the beat to it, it's how we do it

Keep the faith...

Saturday, April 18, 2009 0

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe." - Saint Augustine

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that faith is something that we definitely need to rely on during these troubling times. The economic situations, the rise of atheism, global violence, and more only compound the situation and may cause people to lose their faith. Faith, is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Having faith in a person and having faith in the almighty God are two different things. Having faith in a person can change because people can DISAPPOINT you by not living up to there words, your expectations, and more. Having faith in God is something that will never change, he is omnipresent and faithful to those that seek him.

"I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it will move."
Matthew 17:20

"In the Lord, put your trust."
Psalms 11:1

"If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believeth."
Mark 9:23

"FAITH COMETH by HEARING the WORD of GOD!"
Romans 10:17

Blame it on the Alcohol...

Friday, April 17, 2009 1

Jamie Foxx, comedic genius and avid singer, hurled hurtful words towards teenage sensation Miley Ray Cyrus last week. In a joking manner Jamie stated that Miley should do a sex tape. Miley's father, Billy Ray Cyrus, stated that the words were hurtful and Jamie would not like if he (Billy Ray) said the same thing about his daughter. I am pondering what Jamie was trying to convey, was Jamie throwing a verbal jab at Billy Ray (maybe suggesting that Billy Ray should let his daughter enjoy life)? Did Jamie name drop Miley Ray Cyrus as a form of promotion for his new movie (haha)? Or was Jamie out of line for telling a joke?

Sometimes it is best to harness thy tongue and be quiet haha!!! If I were Jamie I would have blamed it on the alcohol!!!

Change from within...

Sunday, April 12, 2009 0

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

Gandhi serves as one of the most influential political and spiritual leaders of our time. He is a person who was an advocate for nonviolence, he also was a strict vegetarian, and his legacy was passed down through quotes and his actions. The man was a dispensable quote machine and the quote that is in bold print highlights Gandhi's wisdom. In order for a man or woman to change, he or she must first CHANGE the inner self before they can inflict change on the world. Changing thyself includes changing the company you keep, your thoughts, emotions, and more. I believe that a lot of people believe that they can just change their outer world and their inner self will adapt. Unfortunately this mind set will only lead to the same inner self just a redefined sense of the outer world. In other words, the person will still have the same thoughts, emotions, ideas, etc. I would parallel this phenomenon with trying to reform a rapist or child molester back into society. Although their view on society may change, the person could still have the intent to rape or molest again. This concept of changing yourself before your change the world could help a lot of people and it begins in the mind!!!

The real reason why I have been on hiatus...

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 1

Elzhi is the reason why I have been on hiatus. Every once in awhile a person will come along and redefine his profession. Elvis redefined Rock & Roll, Michael Jackson redefined Pop, and Notorious B.I.G. redefined Rap. Elzhi is an emcee who has redefined the technical aspects of structuring a dope verse. Elzhi is currently working on a tribute project honoring Nas called EllMatic. Get Familiar with Elzhi and check out his past material (Out of Focus, Witness My Growth, Europass, The Preface plus his material with Slum Village).
